Parts of mid-Missouri experiencing "moderate drought"
COLUMBIA - Eight counties in mid-Missouri are experiencing "moderate drought" conditions.
The Climate Prediction Center's report showed northern Boone, Callaway, southern Audrain, Howard, Saline, Chariton, Randolph, and Monroe counties are included.
According to the Live Doppler 8 First Alert Weather Center, the Columbia area is 1.65" of rain below the yearly average. Only 1.2" have fallen since the beginning of September. Normally, 5.02" of rain fall between now and Sept. 1. Only .03" of rain have fallen since Oct. 1. The average for October so far is 1.16".
There currently is no chance of rain over the next eight days.
