Peanut Butter Recalled
The company asked the Food and Drug Administration to investigate a possible link between salmonella contamination and peanut butter. The FDA says the outbreak began last summer and was just recently traced to peanut butter made at a single ConAgra plant in Sylvester, Georgia.
ConAgra is recalling all varieties of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter with a product code beginning in 2111. The company says none of its testing has indicated the presence of salmonella in those products, but more testing is still ongoing.
Officials are advising consumers to discard the product, but save the lid for a full refund. For a full refund, consumers must return the product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078.
Consumers with questions or concerns about the recall can call the 24-hour toll-free hotline at 866-344-6970.
