Perez, Royals cruise past Verlander, Tigers

KANSAS CITY - The Royals beat the Tigers 5-1 behind the bat of Salvador Perez Tuesday..

Perez tallied three hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning to put the Royals ahead 3-0. 

Royals starter Danny Duffy went seven strong innings, only allowing one run on five hits and four walks. He improved his record to 5-5 on the season with the win.

Justin Verlander received the loss and dropped to 1-4 on the season. He allowed five earned runs on 10 hits over seven innings of work.

The Royals relief pitchers continued their dominance over opposing hitters after Ryan Madson and Luke Hochevar combined to throw two perfect innings to close out the game.
