Plane Crash Investigated
ST. LOUIS - Federal investigators looking into a plane crash in a north St. Louis County subdivision said the pilot miscalculated how much fuel he needed for his trip. Investigators have been reconstructing the flight path and the plane's final moments before it went down about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the front yard of a suburban home. Pilot Greg Chatten, 47, of Ballwin was the only person on board. He's listed in fair condition at a local hospital. St. Charles Flying Service owns the plane. Company owner Dennis Brampton said Chatten, an experienced pilot, was returning to St. Charles after delivering a package to Little Rock, Ark. Brampton said he doesn't know why Chatten didn't refuel before leaving Little Rock.
