Planning How to Handle Columbia's Traffic
The Missouri Department of Transportation held a public meeting Wednesday in Columbia to discuss potential changes for nearby roads and highways.
"We are ready to present our initial range of alternatives, which are basically just some possible solutions to the problems that we're finding in the area," said MoDOT's Mike Dusenberg.
The department is concentrating on a square enclosed by Interstate 70, U.S. Highway 63, New Haven Road and Route Z.
"One of the biggest road problems is Route WW which, because of increased traffic flow, may be expanded to four lanes," explained Stamper who also said other alternatives may be better.
"The whole east side of town has been kind of neglected for a period of time, so the extension of Stadium Boulevard is logical," he added.
MoDOT is reviewing 9 options for the area and the department will select one next year based in part on public feedback.
