Police Arrest Columbia Man for Possessing Child Pornography
COLUMBIA - Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force arrested John Littell, 67, of Columbia on child pornography charges.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department said it located over 25,000 pornographic photographs of males believed to be in their teens, a large number of them are believed to be minors as young as 8-years-old.
A joint investigation between the Columbia Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff Department resulted in the arrest.
The Boone County Sheriff Department said a Columbia computer-repair business discovered child pornography while fixing Littell's computer and reported it to the Columbia Police Department on June 22. It then forwarded the investigation to the Cyber Crimes Task Force.
Boone County Sheriff Department said the Cyber Crimes Task Force ordered a search warrant at the suspect's residence, but investigators recovered a new computer the suspect allegedly purchased to replace the computer originally taken to the computer-repair business. The sheriff department said during an on-site investigation, additional child pornography was discovered.
The Boone County Sheriff Department said Littell is currently in the Boone County Jail.
