Police Arrest Wanted Subject
COLUMBIA - Columbia Police officers responded to a call on Wednesday. Suspect Edward C. Whitaker was reported to have two felony warrants. Whitaker was inside the residence, looking out a window, while the officers knocked on the door. An adult female and male juvenile left the resident but Whitaker did not. A Code Red was called at 10:45 p.m. when Whitaker refused to exit the residence. Members of the department's SWAT team entered the residence and took Whitaker into custody around 4:00 a.m on Oct. 14.
Whitaker was arrested for Second Degree Burglary, with a $4,500 bond; Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, with a $4,500 bond; Resisting Arrest, with a $4,500 bond; a felony state warrant for driving with a revoked license, with a $1,000 bond and a second felony state warrant for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which does not have a bond.
