Police Hold Blood Drive for Fallen Officer
COLUMBIA - Law enforcement and community groups across Columbia will honor a fallen police officer Friday.
Columbia Police officer Molly Bowden died in February 2005, one month after she was shot during a routine traffic stop. The sixth annual blood drive is held each year to honor her life.
The blood drive will run from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. at Grace Bible Church. Everyone who attempts to give blood will receive a Red Cross T-shirt until they run out. Donors will also have the opportunity to give to the Molly Bowden Scholarship Fund.
The American Red Cross reminded donors that one donation could save up to three lives. Blood donation is needed for trauma victims, cancer patients and car accident victims.
For more information about blood donation call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
