Police Host Trick Or Treaters
The event attracted hundreds of trick or treaters of all ages.
Participants walked through a dark hallway decorated for Halloween where monsters and ghosts peered from windows.
If the trick or treaters made it through the hall, they not only encountered a pot of candy, but books donated by scholastic press. The event gives parents and children a safe alternative to door-to-door candy collecting.
"It provides a good, safe environment for them to come to, so they're not out with the traffic, in the darkness in a good lighted area," Jefferson City officer Randy Hanlin said.
Jefferson City police said there were more officers on patrol Wednesday night than usual. However, there were no major problems with trick or treaters.
