MACON - Police say Jared R. McKinney of Cairo, Missouri shot and killed himself after shooting and killing a male victim, Scott A. Speichinger of Meadville, Missouri at around 9:56 p.m. on Thursday.

Officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a 911 call of a possible domestic disturbance with shots fired in the 500 block of Western Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found the two men in the backyard of the residence, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers learned McKinney had come to the residence to cause harm to his estranged wife, and there was an order of protection in place from Randolph County.

McKinney shot Speichinger as Speichinger was leaving the residence and then tried to enter the house through a rear entrance, where he was discovered by the home owner.

The owner told another person in the house to call 911 and then went to a safe part of the house.

Police say McKinney then shot himself.

Chief Steve Olinger said the investigation in ongoing and autopsies are scheduled with the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday, January 9.
