Police: Man arrested for dragging officer with vehicle
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis County man is facing criminal charges on accusations he dragged a police officer 300 feet down the road in his car.
Police say an officer this month pulled over 31-year-old Maurice Worthy for a traffic stop. They say Worthy grabbed the officer by the arm and pinned him against the steering wheel, dragging him down the road before the officer broke free.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged Worthy with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He's being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond. It wasn't immediately clear if Worthy had an attorney.
Officials say the officer was treated at a local hospital for minor leg, elbow and hip injuries.
