Police: Man fatally shot in Jefferson County after dispute
HOUSE SPRINGS (AP) - A 34-year-old man has died after being shot in the chest during an argument in Jefferson County.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, Patrick M. Marchlewski was shot Saturday evening at Rockford Beach Park near House Springs after a disagreement between him and a 30-year-old man.
Police said the shooter was leaving the park with his six children and stopped to check on the safety of his wife, who was leaving in a different vehicle. Marchlewski went to the driver's side of the suspect's car and an altercation ensued.
Sheriff's Capt. Ralph Brown said the shooter felt threatened, pulled out a handgun and fired multiple times. Marchlewski died of his injuries at a hospital.
The shooter was arrested on voluntary manslaughter charges, but was later released without charge. Authorities said an investigation is ongoing as of Monday morning.
