Police: Man who grabbed officer's gun hit with Taser, fist
CAPE GIRARDEAU (AP) — A southeast Missouri man is facing several charges after allegedly trying to grab a police officer's gun.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the officer responded by using a Taser on 49-year-old Clarence Dwight Lowe of Cape Girardeau, and punching him in the face.
Lowe is jailed on $35,000 bond.
Officers were called to a domestic disturbance complaint Sunday night. Police say officers could hear a woman being pushed and choked before entering the apartment.
As an officer informed Lowe he was being arrested, Lowe allegedly grabbed the officer's firearm and tried to pull it from the holster.
Police say the officer used a Taser to subdue him, and when Lowe continued to struggle, the officer punched him in the face.
