Police Release Details of Hit and Run at Ash and Ridgeway
COLUMBIA - The identities of four people involved in a hit and run Tuesday have been released. Two adults, a toddler, and an infant were all taken to University Hospital after their vehicle was hit.
Lynna Relford-Jones was the driver of a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM that was struck by a 1999 Ford F-150. She was accompanied in the car by 27-year-old Altamese White, 8-year-old Cecil Johnson, and 8-month-old Carleitho White. The driver and all three passengers had to be extricated by Columbia Fire personnel, and were transported to University Hospital. A police report revealed that Altamese White, the adult passenger, was the only person in the Grand AM wearing a seat belt.
Officers responded to a traffic incident on Ridgeway and Ash Tuesday evening. A Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Ash St., reportedly at a high rate of speed. Lynna Relford-Jones, the driver of the Grand AM, was stopped at a stop sign on Ridgeway and Ash. Jones did not see the oncoming truck and attempted to make left turn onto Ash when the vehicles crossed paths. The truck struck the driver's side door, and the driver of the truck fled the scene on foot.
Officers have not yet been able to apprehend the driver of the truck.
