Poplar Bluff Man Pleads Guilty in Child's Death
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) - A Poplar Bluff man faces up to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty in the death of a 4-year-old girl he was babysitting. Twenty-eight-year-old Jeremy E. McIntosh pleaded guilty Tuesday in the Feb. 17 death of Zoey Slagler, who died of blunt force trauma.
The Southeast Missourian reports prosecutors said they would recommend a sentencing cap of 25 years in prison. McIntosh was the next-door neighbor of Zoey's mother and step-father and was watching the child overnight. McIntosh told police he struck the child several times because she would not obey and cried because she wanted her parents.
