MONROE CITY- Due to severe weather Wednesday night the majority of residents in Monroe City lost power Thursday morning around 7 a.m.
High winds, heavy rain, and occasional hail caused damage to many local buildings. Several trees and power lines were knocked down during the storm. City workers are said to be working on the affected areas as soon as possible.
The area is under a flash flood warning until 3:30 p.m. this afternoon because water runoff from creeks and streams has begun to cover roads. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, power was still not returned to the city.
