Powerball jackpot nears record high
COLUMBIA - Missouri residents arrive in flocks at local convenience stores for their chance at winning the big prize. At $380 million, the Missouri Powerball jackpot is now the sixth highest in state history.
QuikTrip assistant manager Scott Miller said with the Powerball jackpot over $300 million the store's Powerball ticket sales are more than triple its average.
"It's usually around $200 and we are closer to $600 just from the morning shift," Miller said. "We'll see how we do this afternoon."
Miller said he finds it funny how many more sales the store sees when the payout is this high.
"Everybody gets real excited when it gets over $300 million," Miller said. "I guess $150 million is not enough."
Players have a one in 175,223,510 chance of winning the Powerball jackpot.
People have until 8:59 p.m. on Saturday to purchase a ticket. The drawing is at 9:59 p.m.
The winning Powerball numbers are, 34 58 5 21 10 33.
