Proposed Rezoning Worries Neighbors in Fulton
"The councilmen are worried about going commercial, because it's going to be next to the residential area," said Hoselton. "They have residential right next to commercial anyway so, really, nothing is changed. So that's why I think it will be better to be C-2 rather than R-3."
The council voted 4-2 on the first reading of a proposed rezoning of 710 South Business 54 from R-1 residential to C-2 commercial.
"If he was to leave, then what would come in after that? Because we all have enjoyed this piece of property behind us with no, you know, interference or anything," said resident Bill Klosterman. "And that is what we have liked. But, as far as the doctor, we have no problem with him whatsoever."
Klosterman is worried about noise that other businesses, such as bars, might bring to the neighborhood.
The council was scheduled to vote again on the proposed rezoning at Tuesday night's meeting, but members decided to review all materials and return to the issue at their next meeting in two weeks.
