Prosecutor updates Ferguson case timeline
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis County prosecutor Bob McCulloch says a grand jury will likely hear evidence until mid-to-late November before deciding whether a white Ferguson police officer will face charges in the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that McCulloch said late Tuesday the grand jury is still hearing evidence in the case against Officer Darren Wilson, who killed Michael Brown in Ferguson on Aug. 9.
The shooting precipitated weeks of sometimes violent protests in Ferguson and underlined the racial divide in the predominantly black St. Louis suburb with an almost exclusively white police force.
Critics have called for McCulloch to recuse himself from the case because of his close ties with law enforcement.
