Prosecutors Question Police Officer's Wife Death
KANSAS CITY (AP) - Prosecutors are investigating the death of a Kansas City area policeman's wife who refused medical treatment. Misty Horner was battling an infection after the stillborn delivery of her baby when she died on January 9th. Lee's Summit police investigated the death for seven months and have turned over their findings to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. The dead woman's husband, Caleb Horner, is a Lee's Summit police officer. The couple shunned medical treatment due to their religious beliefs. Police were called to the Horner home on December 31st after they were told that Misty Horner was very ill, but she declined treatment. News of the woman's death raised questions about whether Caleb Horner's beliefs conflicted with his duties as a police officer.
