Prostitution Busts Were Part of Undercover Operation
COLUMBIA - Boone County prosecutors filed charges Monday against the five people arrested late Thursday night on prostitution charges.
Quenten Hurt, 22, had his initial court appearance in Boone County Monday. Hurt is one of three suspects Columbia Police arrested at the Holiday Inn-Columbia East on promoting prostitution charges. Police arrested two others, Antionette Clarke, 20, and Chelsey Hyde, 19, on prostitution charges.
In court documents obtained Monday, police said Quenten Hurt drove Chelsey Hyde to the Holiday Inn where police were conducting an undercover operation. The undercover officer said police contacted Hyde in response to an online ad and Hyde agreed to meet the undercover officer at the hotel at which point Hyde agreed to accept $160 for sex.
Barry Manthe and Ebonie Brooks-Lewis were also charged with promoting prostitution.
The arrests were made as part of a nation-wide initiative, known as Operation Cross Country VIII, which targets those involved in commercial child sex trafficking throughout the U.S.
