Public Beach Number Two Open Again
OSAGE BEACH - Samples returned Wednesday from the Lake of the Ozarks were clean enough for federal standards.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources opened a beach they had closed last week. Public Beach Number Two opened to the public for swimming at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
It wasn't long before swimmers started showing up.
"We showed up about 4, 4:30," Carl Enlow said, lounging in his beach chair.
Enlow and his wife, Cynthia, were watching his two sons swimming. They were glad the beach was open--it allowed them to cool off from the hot day. However, if the beach wouldn't have been open, it wouldn't have been the first time they changed plans.
"We came last year and it was closed down so we ended up going fishing," Enlow said.
When asked if he was concerned about how clean the water was now he lightly chuckled, "When I was a kid I swimmed in ponds and a lot of the other stuff that wasn't near as clean as this."
The beach will remain open through the weekend and at least until the newest samples come in next Wednesday.
