Rams First Win Without Martz
Somehow, the Rams survived without Martz and a slew of starters.
The team entered the game without three pro bowl starters on offense. Marc Bulger, Torry Holt, and Isaac Bruce all out with injuries. The Rams needed someone to come up big in there place.
"Offensively we made some plays when we had to make them, Jamie functioned well within the offense, missed a couple open throws but did not turn the ball over," Interim Head Coach Joe Vitt said.
Down 14-0 early, Martin drove the Rams down the field and after eight plays and 86 yards. Stephen Jackson got into the endzone for the first of two touchdowns for Jackson on the day. Stephen Jackson wasn't the only one to have a big game, wide receiver Kevin Curtis proved he was ready to fill that void left by Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce.
"It is what it is, can't do anything about it, we've got a lot of confidence in everyone on this team so it's just one of those things where it's an opportunity for a few guys to step in and they gotta make big plays," Rams wide receiver Kevin Curtis said.
"Unbelievable, but it doesn't surprise anybody does it, I mean you see him do it all the time, you saw him do it last week, Kevin works so hard in practice he's got a great mind set, he's got big play ability and he loves playing the game," Vitt said.
Curtis would have a big game with ninety yards on only four receptions and one rushing touchdown. Rams Interim Coach Joe Vitt with his first coaching win. And Jamie Martin got his first career win as a starter.
