Viewer survey: Should Syrian refugees be welcomed or turned away?
COLUMBIA - Many Missouri lawmakers are fighting any effort to have more Syrian refugees settle in the state; while Gov. Jay Nixon has said he will not block any from coming, because federal law does not allow states to refuse.
KOMU 8 News viewers have been vocal about the issue on social media and now we want to bring that conversation to a wider audience.
Many of our Facebook and Twitter followers have been arguing it is not safe to allow more Syrian refugees to settle in Missouri, because extremists may be using the migration as cover and plan to carry out terrorist attacks. Others argue there is a national responsibility to help the refugees in all ways possible, in the midst of an enormous humanitarian crisis.
