Report Details of Mo. Plane Crash that Killed 5
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A federal report on a plane crash the killed five people near Willard in September 2012 says the airplane was in working order and the pilot was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol before the accident.
The National Transportation and Safety Board report doesn't discuss a possible cause of the crash on Sept. 15, 2012, about six miles from the Springfield-Branson National Airport. A Springfield man, his three children and a family friend from Ozark died in the wreck. They were flying back from a Kansas City Royals game when the accident occurred.
The Springfield News-Leader reported Friday the factual report says the pilot, John Lambert, asked for help moments before impact but investigators found no evidence of a mechanical failure or malfunction.
