COLUMBIA - The MU College of Veterinary Medicine held the Dog Jog fundraiser on Saturday.
Both residents and their dogs came together for a 5K run to benefit the Central Missouri Humane Society.
Vet students said more than 300 people registered for the event.
Second year veternarian student Alicia Tutino said even though the set up was hard work, the pay off is rewarding.
"To just give them money, and be able to have them help pets find future homes so, it makes me feel really good that we can help them do that." Tutino said.
Several businesses, including Hyvee and Wal-Mart, donated money, food and treats for both runners and dogs.
Tutino said all of the proceeds will go directly to the humane society.
