Rock Bridge Girls Win State Swim Title
COLUMBIA -- The Rock Bridge girls swim team won the state meet Saturday edging Glendale, 213-182, to take home the first state title in Rock Bridge swimming history.
To start to meet off the 200 medley relay team of sophomore Hannah Flanagan, senior Bri Noltie, senior Kate Walker, and sophomore Kortney Betz picked up a third place finish. Sophomore Chelsea Tatlow added a second place finish in the 200 freestyle. In the 200 IM Flanagan and Noltie added 11th and 12th placed finishes while Betz added at 15th place finish in the 50 freestyle.
The girls would pick up three more spots in the 100 butterfly with freshman Libby Walker finishing eighth, sophomore Lilly Salzer 13th and Kate Walker 14th. Salzer would pick up a third place finish in the 500 freestyle with Walker coming in 14th.
In the 200 freestyle relay, which is worth double points, the team of sophomore Madeline Simon, Betz, Salzer, and Tatlow captured third place.
Tatlow then went on to win the 100 Backstroke while Flanagan added a sixth place finish and Simon came in 13th. Noltie added an 11th place finish in the 100 breaststroke to give Rock Bridge a 25-point lead heading into the final event.
The 400 freestyle relay team Simon, Libby, Betz and Tatlow finished the meet with a first place win and gave the Bruins the title.
