Rollover Accident in Columbia Causes Eastbound I-70 to Close
COLUMBIA - Two people are at University Hospital after their white truck rolled over and caught fire on Interstate 70 near mile marker 131 Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m.
Boone County Fire Protection District Chief Scott Olsen said for still unknown reasons, the car went off the road. He said he believed the driver over-corrected when trying to come back to the road. The accident ejected one person from the car, leaving one in serious condition and another in critical condition.
The crash caused eastbound Interstate 70 to close when fire crews and police officers were clearing the scene.
Although the road re-opened after around 12:30 p.m., Boone County fire crews urged drivers to still use caution in that area.
Police are investigating the accident.
