CAMDEN COUNTY - Both lanes of Route 5 over the Niangua River were closed Wednesday morning after a deadly multiple vehicle accident. MoDOT said the bridge is expected to be closed for six hours.
MoDOT also offered several options for detours. If you're traveling southbound on Route 5, you should take Route 7 to Route J to Route 54, instead. Anyone traveling northbound on Route 5 should take Route 54 to Route J to Route 7.
MoDOT said tractor-trailers should avoid the area completely.
Southbound trucks should take Route 5 to Route 52 through Eldon to Route 54 and northbound trucks should take Route 54 to Route 52 through Eldon to Route 5.
Captain Kelly Luttrell with the Camden County Sheriff's Office said the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Camden County Sheriff's Office and Mid-County Fire were all on the scene.
