LAKE OZARK - All lanes of Route 54 between the Osage River Bridge and the Route 242 interchange will be closed for one hour beginning at midnight tonight.
The highway is closed to allow Ameren Missouri to repair power line damage caused by Monday night's storm.
Following the one-hour closure, the speed limit on that same stretch of Route 54 will be reduced to 40 mph from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday to enable Ameren Missouri to work on overhead power lines.
Motorists will be detoured along Route 242 and Business 54 across the Bagnell Dam during the closure.
Local law enforcement and Missouri Department of Transportation staff are working with Ameren Missouri officials to coordinate the closure. Electronic message boards and other traffic control tools will be put in place to help direct traffic around the work zone.
"We know this is a busy time for the Lake of the Ozarks area, and we want to thank everyone for their cooperation during this brief road closure," said MoDOT District Engineer David Silvester. "Closing the road will help us keep travelers safe while Ameren Missouri performs some critical repairs that will ensure local businesses and residents maintain power."
