Route 94 Auxvasse Creek Bridge Opening Ahead of Schedule
CALLAWAY COUNTY - A project to replace the deck and beams of the Auxvasse Creek Bridge on Route 94 in Callaway County is nearly complete, and the roadway is scheduled to open to traffic by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, weather permitting.
The bridge was closed to traffic on Sept. 19 and will open about a week ahead of schedule. The Missouri Department of Transportation extends its thanks to motorists for their patience while the work was underway.
The Auxvasse Creek Bridge is located approximately three miles east of Mokane. Lehman, Construction, LLC, of California, Mo., was awarded the contract to make the bridge improvements after submitting the low bid of $688,439.08.
The work is part of MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program, which will improve 800 of Missouri's worst bridges in five years - by the end of 2013. Eighty-seven bridges are being replaced or repaired in the mid-Missouri area as a part of this program. Currently, over 600 bridges have been improved statewide.
