Runner Wears Suit in Marathon to Raise Funds
COLUMBIA - A Columbia man ran the Heart of America Marathon Monday a little differently: In a full business suit.
Steven Mankofsky ran as the best-dressed person in the marathon to raise money for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri. He says will continue to match funds donated to the food bank for the next two weeks.
According to Rachel Ellersieck, a spokeswoman for the food bank, Mankofsky raised more than $3,600 leading up to Monday's race. That's enough money to provide more than 44,000 meals for the food bank. The runner attempted to break the world record for the fastest marathon in a full suit which was 3 hours, 24 minutes and 46 seconds. It was a hot and humid morning. Mankofsky finished with a time of 5 hours, 6 minutes and 10 seconds.
