Safety Awareness Day Offers Tips for Home and Car Owners
COLUMBIA - Home Depot sponsored a public safety awareness day today. The public was welcome to learn about various sorts of safety tips.
Advocates for security and disaster precaution gave people tips on making their homes safer.
The county sheriff, fire department and the University Hospital helicopter made a showing at the hardware store.
"We've never had the helicopter come, not that I'm aware of, or the fire trucks, we're just really wanting to get the public knowledgeable, [and give them information on] different things they can do for safety in their homes," Deborah Arnett, who is with Home Depot, said.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department also had an interactive seat belt demonstration for car safety.
