Salvation Army Meal a Success
"Because I just love these people, it's a lovely thing to do," volunteer Eric Hill said.
Organizers have served about 800 Thanksgiving dinners every year since Everett's Restaurant and the Salvation Army teamed up 15 years ago to host the dinner after the Salvation Army ran out of room. Volunteers also delivered 200-300 meals on Thursday to local residents who couldn't come to the restaurant.
"Just seeing the people and how happy they are just to have the meal for Thanksgiving that they may not have if we weren't there to give it to them," volunteer Cindy Murray said.
Area residents and merchants contributed money and donated food to support the Salvation Army's annual Thanksgiving feast.
