COLUMBIA - The group, Save the University of Missouri Press, will meet at 11 a.m. at the Student Center to discuss their plans on how to keep the press in business.

The group believes that the decision University President Tim Wolfe made to close the press was a mistake. It said Wolfe wants to lead the way in digital publishing and make it a student run venture.

The organizer of the Save the University Press group, Ned Stuckey-French, has began an online petition that will be submitted to Tim Wolfe and the MU Board of Curators. That petition has already gained about 5,000 signatures. According to the petition, French wants to make sure students get the opportunity to learn at the press, but under supervision of trained professionals. He also wants MU to keep printing books along with exploring other opportunities in new media.

You can find the petition here.
