Savich Representing Serbia in Women's World Amateur
COLUMBIA -- Mizzou Women's Golfer Ariana Savich is currently representing the Tigers from many miles away as she is competing in the Women's World Amateur Team Championship in Antalya, Turkey. Savich is representing the country of Serbia along with her sister, Milena.
Their father is from Serbia, which allows Savich to play for the Serbian national team.Currently, the team is tied for 26th in the tournament, which takes place September 27-30 at Gloria Golf Club. Two-time champion Sweden leads the tournament with a one-stroke lead over Latvia.
Canada, Japan, Czech Republic, Spain and New Zealand are tied for third as they sit just one stroke behind Latvia with a team score of 143. In all, 53 countries are competing in the Championship.Both Ariana Savich and her sister Milena Savich are tied for 52nd overall after one round of play. The two have scores of 75, just 3-over par, while Serbia is tied for 26th place overall.
Ariana Savich started off the day with a double bogey on her first hole, but was able to improve her score after tallying birdies on holes seven and 15. Milena Savich, who is a member of the Georgia Women's Golf team, started the day at even par before recording three bogeys throughout the round.
