Saving Missouri Bridges
MoDOT is set to reinforce seven bridges in mid-Missouri, including one on Stadium Blvd. The other six bridges are in Jefferson City. MoDOT says they plan to add steel rods in the structure to provice extra support. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of the month and MoDOT hopes to finish the project by the end of April. A MoDOT engineer says drivers are not at any immediate risk.
"We are doing this project as a precautionary measure to provide additional reinforcement to the structure to ensure that the sidewalk remains securely attached to the bridge," Steve Engelbrecht said.
MoDOT plans to close some lanes while contruction is under way, but they hope that those closing won't cause any major interference with traffic. MoDOT is also inspecting other bridges across the state.
