Saving Seniors from Shoveling
Lana Vaughn is running out of food. But there's one thing that's not going anywhere soon, and that's snow that's keeping her in. She was stuck in her house for almost a week until she used a garden shovel to dig away at her porch.
"My right hand is paralyzed and I can't really grasp anything really well," Vaughn said.
Her hand prevented her from being able to shovel herself out easily, and that's when the volunteers from the Council on Aging came in.
"The demand definitely outweighs the resource in terms of volunteers," said Melanie Stapleton, Council on Aging.
The council is asking for help from volunteers who can help shovel snow. They also need people who might have snow-clearing equipment to get in touch with them.
