School District, Administrators Dropped from Suit
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - The Jefferson City school district and two high school administrators have been dropped from a lawsuit filed over a relationship between a teacher and a former student.
U.S. District Judge Nanette Laughrey on Tuesday dismissed the parties from the lawsuit, which was filed last July on behalf of a May 2013 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports the student, identified only as Jane Doe, accused the district and two administrators of not doing enough to stop former band teacher Christopher Knehans from having a relationship with her.
Knehans pleaded guilty in 2012 to two felony counts of sexual contact with a student. He was sentenced to 60 days on one count and three years' supervised probation on the other, with both sentences suspended.
