SE Mo County Hit By String of Burglaries
PERRYVILLE (AP) - A sheriff's office in southeastern Missouri is looking for several men suspected of stealing payroll checks and petty cash from several businesses.
KFVS-TV reports that Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf believes the men are part of a larger criminal organization from out of state.
Schaaf says the men walk into businesses posing as job seekers and asking for employment applications. In fact, he says, they're casing the businesses before returning hours later to burglarize them.
The sheriff says the men cash the stolen payroll checks out of town, using apparently counterfeit I.D. from different states.
