Searchers Try New Tactic
Searchers have begun using a grid system to search the lake. Randolph County Police pumped water out of Higbee City Lake for the last five days, draining about 10 feet of water. Now Deputy Nevin Turner and his crew are concentrating on a small part of the lake to search for the body of Shawn Head.
"We've started what's called a grid search, that's where the area is gridded or corded off into 3-foot by 3-foot sections. One officer is assigned to each section," Turner explained.
Head vanished from Moberly in January of 2004. Deputy Turner says he thinks the grid system will complete their search of the lake. Divers have searched the lake twice in the past year, but due to heavy vegetation, they have been unable to find anything.
