Section of grain train derails near St. Louis
EUREKA (AP) - Authorities say a derailment of a grain-hauling freight train near St. Louis dumped much of the payload but cause no injuries.
St. Louis County police and the Eureka Fire Protection District say about two dozen cars in the middle of the eastbound, 98-car Union Pacific train derailed about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday near Eureka. Eighteen of the cars that left the tracks overturned.
The fire protection district's chief, Greg Brown, calls the scene "a big mess."
The cause of the derailment was not immediately clear.
