Sen. Roy Blunt Requests 100 Percent Reimbursement
COLUMBIA - Sen. Roy Blunt sent a letter to the White House today asking President Barack Obama for 100 percent reimbursement for expenditures used for Joplin relief.
In the letter, Blunt referenced his visits to New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He also said that the damage was extraordinary in these places and the scenes closely resembled the sights in Joplin, Mo.
Blunt said that the "traditional 75-25 percent cost-sharing would be totally inappropriate in this circumstance."
Obama will be visiting Joplin on Sunday. Blunt thanked Obama for the visit in the letter stating "I know it will mean a lot to the community, and I'm glad you're going."
