Services set for St. Louis-area reserve firefighter
PORTAGE DES SIOUX (AP) - Funeral services are set for a suburban St. Louis reserve firefighter who was found dead in his vehicle in a field.
The body of 60-year-old Larry Lawhorn of the Orchard Farm Fire Protection District was found early Sunday. Attempts by emergency responders to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful.
Authorities say Lawhorn was driving to a reported structure fire in St. Charles County's Portage Des Sioux when the district-owned tanker trunk he was driving inexplicably left the road and ended up in a field. It isn't clear why the vehicle left the road.
Services for Lawhorn will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, followed by burial at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
