ST. LOUIS - A strike among fast food workers in the St. Louis area is expected to involve more than two dozen restaurants.
The walkouts began Wednesday at a McDonald's in St. Louis County and a Jimmy John's in the city's Soulard area. Organizers say workers at many different restaurants around the metro area planned to walk strike lines Thursday.
The workers are pushing for higher wages, better working conditions and the right to form a union. Workers are seeking an hourly wage of $15. Many say they make closer to the minimum wage, $7.35 an hour.
Similar strikes have occurred recently in New York and Chicago.
