Shane Ray predicted as the top pick by NFL Draft analyst
COLUMBIA - University of Missouri defensive end Shane Ray is a potential number one pick for the 2015 NFL Draft according to NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr.
Thursday morning on ESPN's SportsCenter, Kiper Jr. talked about four players he thought had the best chance of being the number one pick in the draft.
"You have the ‘freaks', the defensive linemen that can to the quarterback and wreak havoc in the pass-happy NFL," Kiper said.
This season Ray has 12 sacks, the single season record at MU, and 50 tackles. Ray is three sacks away from surpassing former number one pick Mario William who earned 14 sacks in 2005 at North Carolina State.
The other three players Kiper mentioned were Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Nebraska defensive lineman Randy Gregory, and USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams.
If Ray is the top pick in April he will become the first MU football player selected number one overall.
The Tigers have three more regular season games against Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
