Shaping Up Pays Off
Nine members of Columbia's Water and Light Department formed a team called the "Thickburgers" as part of the Shape Up Missouri Challenge. The team won first place for each person's total number of exercise time at an average of 12,000 minutes.
Wednesday morning the thickburgers received an award for exercising and slimming down, a goal the city of Columbia supports.
"It promotes healthy living and a healthy living style among all of our employees. And it's a fine example that we can set to everyone else in Columbia," Assistant City Manager Paula Hertwig Hopkins said.
The city gave each team member a gift certificate. The next Shape Up Challenge begins Sept. 18.
