Shooting Victim Released
Police say the student shot the school's transportation director, Donnie Debrodie, because he was looking for the student. Debrodie was treated and released from the hospital last night.
"He's going to take a few days off," said Dustin Storm, Superintendent of the South Calloway R-II District, "but he's willing to come back as soon as possible. He's a trooper and we're having a hard time keeping him away, he wants to be back here, he wants to be here helping the kids."
Classes were in session Thursday with extra counselors on hand. A few parents kept their children home, but most students attended school. Prinicipals visited classrooms in all South Callaway schools and listened to student concerns.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Department says administrators did a good job locking down the school. Officials are investigating the motive for the shooting, but say the 11-year-old boy is not talking.
