COLUMBIA - Shots were fired during an argument in the New Haven subdivision shortly after midnight Friday.

Deputies responded to a disturbance with shots fired on Santa Barbara Drive. They encountered a group of subjects involved in an argument.

Steven Levere Young, 25, was arrested on scene after he reportedly fired a shot in the air following his encounter with some juveniles. Other subjects joined the disagreement and Young was reported to have fired several more shots toward an adult.

It is unlawful for Young to possess a firearm due to prior felony convictions, so the firearm was recovered and found to be stolen.

No one was injured during the altercation.

Young was arrested for the charges: first degree assault, armed criminal action, receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child and the possession of a firearm unlawful for certain persons.

He is being held at the Boone County Jail. His bond has not yet been set.
