COLUMBIA - Shots were fired Thursday morning at 1:45 a.m. near the Columbia Petro-Mart on Hinkson Avenue and Paris Road.

Police are searching for at least one suspect. Witnesses say they heard two or three shots early this morning.

"I hadn't seen anything like that down here yet," Gage Barnick, an employee at the Petro-Mart said. "First thing I thought was, like, okay, do I go outside and see what's happening or do I call 9-1-1? Because, you know, excitement and curiosity overcame fear for a second."

Police say the shots resulted from an argument between two different vehicles. Officers were able to find one shell casing on the street and a handgun in the car of one suspect.

Police also say they don't know of a motive, and that one suspect was taken into questioning after being detained.
